When I was waking up, a friend of Pierre’s visited him. They played backgammon before going to work.

Maxi café au lait i bagietka. U Chińczyków, ale o cenie lepiej i tak nie wspominać. Cóż, to w końcu l'Opéra. W metrze, na stacji Place d'Italie, gra na gitarze Daniel Kudrycki. Nie mówi po polsku.
Maxi-sized café au lait and a baguette. At Chinese’s, but it’s better not to mention the price anyway. Well, it’s still l’Opéra. At the metro station Place d’Italie there’s Daniel Kudrycki playing his guitar. His name sounds perfectly Polish, but he doesn’t speak it.

Przy Avenue de l'Opéra mieści się zakład szewski Albaladejo. Za wystawową szybą można podziwiać m.in. gigantycznego buta, uszytego swego czasu na wystawę światową w Barcelonie. Pracownicy rozmawiają łamanym hiszpańskim.
There is a shoemaker called Albaladejo on Avenue de l’Opéra. Behind the glass one can admire, among others, a gigantic shoe, made for the World Expo in Barcelona. The shop-assistants speak broken Spanish.
